There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding MLB The Show lately, thanks to Los Angeles Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani being revealed as the cover athlete. Ohtani’s likeness has also been drawn by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki for the game’s MVP Edition, which includes plenty of additional content beyond the cool cover art. On top of all that, it looks like Sony San Diego is looking to bring the game of baseball to mobile devices.
Seen by Reset UserEra Todd Bonzalez, the studio behind the MLB gaming franchise is looking to hire a mobile graphics expert. as the list says and Twitter, Sony San Diego is looking for someone “with 5 [to] 10 years of experience and ability to solve problems.” The studio does more than just MLB The Show, but the full list of jobs includes “interest in baseball” as a plus. MLB games already have companion apps, but all of this still suggests that they could come to mobile devices in the future. Doing so would add another level to the game’s cross-play features.
As for where MLB The Show 22 is headed, the next baseball game will be on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It’s the first time an MLB game will be on a Nintendo platform in a while, and it’ll also be available on the first day of Game Pass. Its release date is April 5.
