Somehow or other, this year we will have a game of the saga Warcraft on mobile. This has been confirmed by Activision Blizzard itself in its latest financial results report, a text in which we can read that the company responsible for this franchise, Blizzard, is preparing “completely new content” for mobile devices. It will be the first time that this IP reaches smartphones, although at the moment it has not been specified what type of adaptation we are talking about.
The report says that Blizzard is working on a “substantial” amount of new content for the franchise Warcraft, new projects that they will arrive in 2022, as confirmed by Activision Blizzard. Specifically, there is talk of “new experiences” both for World of Warcraft, which just received a historical update that allows collaborations between Alliance and Horde, such as for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
Precisely Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is already available on iOS and Android mobile devices, as well as on PC, so when talking about “new content from Warcraft for mobile” that coming to this platform “for the first time” we will be talking specifically about the strategy saga Warcraft, who received his last game, Warcraft III: Reforged, in 2020 as a PC exclusive. The unknown new mobile game from Blizzard will accompany Diablo Immortal as the company’s only two forays into smartphones; in the financial report it is said that this last game “concluded its public testing phase with feedback positive”.
New experiences and an “exciting” new IP
In addition to new mobile games, Blizzard is also working on “new experiences in Warcraft, the continued development of Diablo Y Overwatch and an exciting new IP”; that new IP could be related to the new survival game that the company is developing, a title to which another project could be added according to the latest rumors.
