Sony acquires Bungie, studio behind Halo and Destiny • Console and Dashboard

Purchases continue within the video game industry. If a few days ago Microsoft revolutionized it with the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, now Sony does the same with Bungie. The purchase has been made for 3,600 million dollars.

Bungie, study behind the sagas Halo Y Destiny, among others, becomes part of Sony. It represents a growth for the PlayStation family, which has not stopped incorporating stamps either. This is the case of Guerrilla Games, Insomniac Games, Santa Monica or Naughty Dog, among others.

For the moment, Bungie ensures that it will continue to maintain independence and creative freedom. They will continue to self-publish their games for people to find on their favorite platforms. Thus, it will remain a cross-platform developer, contrary to what would happen with Activision Blizzard and Xbox. At least that’s the idea.

That same purchase led to the decline in Sony shares, which, with this acquisition, have registered a slight increase. From Sony they describe the purchase of Bungie as an exciting moment, the result of the good relationship since the birth of Destiny. It is part of his strategy to “expand the reach of PlayStation.”
