Amazon Just Tipped the First PS5 Restock of 2022 This Week: Here’s What We Know

Amazon has yet to do a PS5 restock in 2022, but that could change in the coming days.

While there has been no official word from the online retailer confirming an imminent PS5 restocking, multiple sources suggest that Amazon could take new orders for the in-demand next-gen console sometime this week. We’ll be keeping an eye on Amazon for the next few days, so check back for updates.

Reliable Stock Tracking Account @PS5StockUpdates has claimed that this Amazon crash will be the “main event” of the week. This could indicate that significant stock will be available during this replenishment. This would make sense as Amazon has historically had bigger but less frequent drops compared to other retailers.

What to watch out for this week… – This week’s MAIN event should be Amazon! We don’t know the exact day and time of the release, but it’s coming soon! Another GameStop release in store Thursday at local store opening time (via @mattswider at⬇️⬇️ ⬇️January 25, 2022

We currently have no report on the exact date and time of this replenishment. This is frustrating but not entirely unexpected. Amazon doesn’t generally follow a predictable restocking pattern and seems to drop stock of next-gen consoles randomly. This makes pinning down the window of a potential Amazon PS5 restock very tricky.

In the middle of 2021, Amazon began carrying out restocks that required a Prime membership to access. Curated reruns being made exclusively for Prime members is a trend we expect Amazon to continue into 2022, so it may be worth signing up below to ensure you get access to the next Amazon PS5 rerun.

There’s no guaranteed formula for success when it comes to securing a PS5 during an Amazon restock, but there are a few things you can do to tip the odds in your favor.

First, make sure you have an Amazon account set up in advance with your address information and payment details saved in advance. Getting stock in your basket is only half the battle, once you’ve made it a race to complete checkout. If you are unable to enter your card number and zip code, the console may time out while you are typing.

There’s a Kind of a weird trick from Amazon which has been shown to make it easy to pay with a PS5. By placing the console on your wish list ahead of time when it’s restocked, you can add it to your cart from there. This allows you to bypass the listing page, which almost always fails due to overwhelming traffic.

With this trick, you can usually get stock in your basket by the time the replenishment goes live, and that gives you a pretty hefty advantage over people who are stuck trying to update the actual PS5 listing page in hopes that works.

Just make sure you have the PS5 on your wish list ahead of time, as you can still add it even when the console is out of stock. Do this well before the reset occurs to make use of this trick. Attempting to add the console to your wish list during a stock drop will usually cause the website to issue an error message.

We tested this method ourselves during an Xbox Series X restock and can confirm that it does indeed work. We managed to get the Series X into our basket four times, while we couldn’t get the console into our basket even once through the listing page because it kept crashing.
