It was cool for a while, but cheaters are making fun of Warzone’s Ricochet anti-cheat

Well, it was good while it lasted. war zone Players have been reporting an increasing number of clashes with cheaters recently. While the highly publicized Ricochet anti-trampas has led to vast improvements to the battle royale experience when it was first released, it seems the most infamous gamers have found a way around it.

Ricochet anti-cheat is kernel level software added to Warzone late last year around the release of the new Caldera map. Required for all players, it was able to remove many of the cheats players were using and resulted in waves of bans.

However, the sweet catharsis that we all feel seems to have been short-lived. At the height of the official Warzone reddit, there are reports of cheaters returning to spoil the fun. One such post from user VinniGreti asks for crossplay only on console, so console gamers can stay away from cheaters on PC that could destroy their hopes of winning Warzone.

Another post highlights an intense backlash from popular Battle Royale content creator Dr. Disrespect since he is the victim of one of those cheaters. In the clip it says “It’s not working. Let’s work on a new solution right now, you’ll have to find something for this engine, it doesn’t work.”

Now, from the beginning, the Raven Software team has claimed that the implementation was just the first step in an ongoing battle against cheating. In a section titled ‘This is just the beginning’ on the official blog page, says: “We are dedicated and determined to evolve the RICOCHET anti-cheat system over time, fighting for the community against those who seek to spoil your gaming experience.”

Not only that, but just last week, Activision Blizzard filed a lawsuit against one of the biggest Warzone cheat distributors, demanding redress for every instance where the website has caused serious damage to their IPs.

So while at this point it may seem like the team behind Warzone is on the defensive in the never-ending showdown against cheaters, the fight is surely far from over.
