The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack caused controversy since its announcement and launch a few months ago. Of course, paying an extra fee to play Nintendo 64 (and SEGA Genesis) titles didn’t sit well with one section of the community. The straw that broke the camel’s back was the poor emulation of some video games that were included in the service.
In November 2021, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser addressed many of the fan complaints, promising to improve the service with the help of community feedback. Now, 3 months later, it seems that the worker’s promises have begun to materialize.
Fans note improvements to N64 emulation on Nintendo Switch
as promised, Banzo-Kazooie, Rare’s excellent platformer, was the latest video game to join the ranks of the Switch Online + Expansion Pack. It seems that the update that added this title also made some improvements to other parts of the service.
After the release of the latest patch, users began to notice a slight improvement in the emulation of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. For example, the water textures finally gained a transparency and reflection effect, which is particularly noticeable in the Water Temple and the battle against Dark Link.

It seems the water in the now-infamous Water Temple room has been fixed in the latest update? I think the fog is still missing, though.
Haven’t checked the rest of the game to see if any of the other issues have changed, but this is promising. pic.twitter.com/wcoG3hIxu2

However, the experience is not perfect and some bugs still persist. According to user OatmealDome, the fog effects are still conspicuous by their absence and the water still lacks the texture seen in the CameCube version. However, he believes the latest improvement, small as it may be, is a good sign.
On the other hand, the dataminer LuigiBlood assured that the last update of the online service did not change the ROMs of the games, so the modifications were made in the emulator used by the Nintendo hybrid console.

Other Switch Online + Expansion Pack games still have bugs
While improvements to water texture in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time This is good news for fans, not everything is hunky-dory.
What happens is that other users turned to social networks to complain about other titles available on Nintendo’s online service such as Paper Mario, Dr. Mario Y Yoshi’s Story, which still have bugs. We hope that the Japanese company is aware of this situation and is already working on a solution.
No, @NintendoAmerica did not fix the Paper Mario game over crashes with Watt or the save data issues in the Banjo-Kazooie update.
