Release date, trailer, cast and everything we know about The Book of Boba Fett

The Book of Boba Fett continues the Mandalorian saga on Disney Plus. The infamous bounty hunter who apparently died in Return of the Jedi not only survived, but helped rescue Baby Yoda and has now returned to Tatooine to reclaim a criminal empire.

Boba Fett is attempting to take over territory that was once held by Jabba the Hutt. At his side is the mercenary assassin Fennec Shand. Together, they hope to rule Mos Espa and make a name for themselves in the underworld of the Outer Rim.

The Book of Boba Fett is the latest of the Disney Plus Star Wars shows. More are coming soon, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: Ahsoka, Star Wars: Andor, and The Mandalorian season 3.

The Boba Fett Book Release Date

The Boba Fett Book release date was December 29, 2021. Episode 1 debuted on that date and subsequent episodes are released weekly on Wednesdays.

Season 1 consists of seven episodes.

Cast of The Book of Boba Fett

The cast of The Book of Boba Fett is headed by Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett. Morrison made his Star Wars debut in 2002’s Episode II – Attack of the Clones as Jango Fett, Boba’s beloved father. And since Jango was the template for the Clone Troopers, no one cares that their son looks so identical (then again, few have probably seen both of them unmasked).

Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, Fett’s right-hand man. The actress is more than familiar with the world of nerdy TV properties, having recently played Agent May on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.

Other cast members are:

  • Matt Berry as the voice of 8D8, a droid in Fett’s employ
  • David Pasquesi as the Twi’lek butler mayor of Mos Espa
  • Jennifer Beals as Garsa Fwip, the Twi’lek owner of the Sanctuary cantina
  • Carey Jones as Krrsantan, a Wookiee bounty hunter and former gladiator.
  • Stephen Root as Lortha Peel, a water dealer
  • Sophie Thatcher as Drash, a member of a gang of cyborgs who works for Fett.
  • Jordan Bolger as Skad, a cyborg gang member
  • Danny Trejo as Fett’s grudge trainer
  • Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner as a mod artist at Mos Eisley

For cinelinx, multiple independent sources claim that Din Djarin (aka Mando himself) will appear in The Book of Boba Fett. This makes a lot of sense, as Disney framed The Book of Boba Fett as “the next chapter” in the Mandalorian story.

Trailer for The Book of Boba Fett

The Book of Boba Fett trailer has a really cool vibe. Fett seems to be a better crime boss, but the rest of the underworld around him seems to not want him on the throne.

The Book of Boba Fett season 2 speculation

The Book of Boba Fett gifts (given to cast and crew upon completion of a project) shared by Ming-Na Wen give people reason to believe that this won’t be the only set of episodes we’ll get for the season.

Note that the card says “The Book of Boba Fett S.1”, where ‘S.1’ represents season 1, suggesting that a second season is possibly happening.
