Another controversy! Fans criticize Demon Slayer for “sexualizing” Nezuko | Levelup

Demon Slayer remains one of the most popular and beloved anime today. However, that doesn’t mean it’s free from criticism and controversy on social media. Now, a group of users attacked the animated series and those responsible for, supposedly, oversexualizing an underage character.

In case you don’t know, last Sunday, January 9, the sixth episode of the second season of Demon Slayer. There, viewers witnessed the impressive physical change Nezuko Kamado underwent in the wake of her new demon form.

While the transformation of Tanjiro’s sister was something that readers of the manga anticipated, it is undeniable that it took fans outside of the source material by surprise. Therefore, it is not surprising that, after the episode was broadcast, some users turned to social networks to lash out at the new aspect of the female character.

Users criticize Demon Slayer for allegedly inappropriate content

Specifically, the vast majority of complaints lie in the fact that, in anime lore, Nezuko Kamado is 14 years old. Many users explained on Twitter that they do not consider it prudent for a minor to wear a suit that leaves parts of her body exposed. Likewise, they attacked the people who defend the new aspect of the demon.

“I still can’t believe that some people are sexualizing Nezuko. You are sick and they disgust me. Even if it is a drawing that does not change that it is a minor, “said a user on Twitter.

Until a certain point, Demon Slayer you are used to receiving criticism for your supposedly inappropriate content. A few weeks ago, some viewers turned to a Japanese body to complain about anime and its excess of violence. Possibly the case of Nezuko Kamado will not be the last controversy surrounding this popular and successful animated series.
