Through social media and reddit posts, multiple users raised concerns about Square Enix’s initiative. Likewise, there were those who attacked the NFTs and claimed that they are a scam.

Some players called on the community to boycott the game if the NFTs ever arrive, while others were more optimistic and believe that Naoki Yoshida, director and producer of Final Fantasy XIV, will prevent Square Enix from using controversial technology in the MMORPG.
