Resident Evil 8 Village is the GOTY for PC Gamers at the 2021 Steam Awards

Resident Evil 8: Village is the best game of the year for Steam users, who have voted in the 2021 Steam Awards between December 22, 2021 and this Monday, January 3. Capcom’s action horror adventure has thus risen above the rest of the world. candidates for GOTY: Valheim, New World, Cyberpunk 2077 Y Forza Horizon 5.

The Steam Awards are unique to the video game industry for two reasons. First of all, because of its categories. Although there are some regulars like the game of the year, the game with the best graphics and the best story (which this year has won Cyberpunk 2077), there are other more particular ones like the more relaxing game or the “worst game you give yourself”.

The other peculiarity is in the voting system. In a first phase, all registered Steam users can vote any game in the catalog for the categories defined by Valve. Subsequently, Gabe Newell’s company unveils the five most voted games for each category, and users vote on those nominees.

Beyond the traditional GOTY, users have chosen as the best virtual reality game of the year to Cooking Simulator VR. As for the title most pampered by developers in terms of new content, the winner is Terraria. Users have raised to It Takes Two as the best game to play with friends now Forza Horizon 5 as a title with better graphics.

Cooking Simulator VR

Deathloop takes the accolade for “Most Innovative Gameplay”, Nioh 2 the one of “better game that worse is given to you”, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy recognition for best soundtrack, Farming Simulator 22 has been praised for being the most relaxing, and as we mentioned before, Cyberpunk 2077 is the winner in “excellent story-rich game”.
