BioShock Creator’s new game trapped in development hell

Even though work began in 2014, a new report from Bloomberg suggests that the Ken Levine and Ghost Story Games title won’t release for quite some time.

In the final months of the seventh generation of consoles, BioShock: Infinity It debuted and caused a stir. BioShock Infinite It received tons of praise when it was initially released, and the future looked bright for studio director Ken Levine. But, as Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported, it’s been eight years since you’ve made notable contributions to the gaming space, and your new game may be in trouble.

After Irrational Games suddenly disbanded in 2014, Levine went on to form Ghost Story Games with the intention of releasing a new title for 2017. It is said to be smaller in scale than anything seen in the game. BioShock trilogy, this project would have borrowed elements from Levine’s previous works while forgoing the big-budget mentality of previous games. However, Levine was unable to commit to his comparatively small team, and ambition sank what would have been the studio’s first release.

Ambition seems to be the keyword when it comes to Ken Levine and his recent troubles. Bioshock: Infinity It was said to have had an extremely long and supposedly turbulent development process and, with more time spent on development and nothing to show publicly, the first release of Ghost Story Games may well be experiencing similar problems. Almost a decade later, however, former Levine employees still accuse him of failing to master his ambitions.

Numerous Ghost Story Games employees say the studio’s current project has been rebooted and reworked multiple times over the years and may not see the light of day for at least another two. Implementing his vision is said to be frustrating – some of Levine’s employees have anonymously stated that the repetition of conscientiously adhering to his ideas only to scrap them for new ones later on has made the development process unbearable.

Why 2K, the publisher behind BioShock It is unknown that games that agreed to a 15-year deal with Levine’s new studio do not intervene. Schreier assumes that 2K adopts an indifferent attitude towards him because the publisher respects his status as an author in the medium, but, given the hasty nature of his recent NBA 2K releases, patience doesn’t seem to be in the publisher’s vocabulary.

Rumors about a new entry in the BioShock The series has been around for some time, and any gamer will guess if that or Levine’s new project will come out first. Regardless, fans, at this point, can only hope that the upcoming games are worth the eight-year wait and counting.
