Emmy-nominated actor Rainn Wilson, known for playing Dwight Schrute on the hit sitcom The Office, jokes that he wants to fight AEW icon Sting.
The office Student Rainn Wilson jokes that he wants to fight AEW star and wrestling icon Sting. With time spent in WCW, TNA and WWE, Sting is a true legend between the ropes. The fighter is known for his unforgettable face paint and unmatched energy, in addition to his memorable fights with the likes of Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan. After nearly four decades in the world of wrestling, Sting is still going strong.
Sting is currently active in All Elite Wrestling, partnered with Darby Allin and mixed with a younger generation of wrestlers such as MJF, Ethan Page, and Scorpio Sky. Given his legacy and decades-long fandom, the veteran wrestler earns huge ratings for AEW, and live crowds seize the opportunity to show their appreciation for Sting. Yet even though he’s busy taking on AEW’s slimmest villains, Sting has now received a challenge from a decidedly unlikely source.
Wilson, three-time Emmy nominee for his portrayal of Dwight Schrute on the NBC sitcom The office, challenged Sting to a match via Twitter. The wording of Wilson’s post is reminiscent of tweets and statements by AEW’s The Young Bucks, who frequently share his desire to take on his opponents. As of this writing, Wilson’s tweet has received over 19,000 likes, with many responding to express surprise at the seemingly random challenge. Take a look at Wilson’s tweet below.
Someday I will fight Sting. And I will win. You can bet on it.

It’s worth noting that AEW has seen a lot of celebrities pass by. In the first episode of AEW Dynamite, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes made a cameo appearance as their Jay and Silent Bob characters. Since then, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has made appearances, and Rosario Dawson mingled with the sinister Malakai Black. The actress even made the best of the exchange. These moments are usually a bit of cross synergy with TNT and the WarnerMedia brand in general, while also serving as a fun treat for viewers.
Wilson has upcoming projects with Paramount + and AMC, but that doesn’t exclude The office actor to appear from the crowd and confront Sting. It would be a strange moment, no doubt, but those tend to be the most memorable. Plus, with the help of the energy of a live crowd, it would help bring a bit of hype to AEW. The promotion has already seen its fortune grow with the high-profile additions of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole in recent months. An appearance by Wilson would only add to the excitement.
