Unfortunately, there is no legitimate working application that allows you to unfollow all accounts on Instagram at once. If there are many apps on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store that claim to do so.
But trust us, none of them work. Therefore, they are not worth it. To find out how to manually unfollow Instagram accounts and the reasons why you should, keep reading this article.
Let’s tackle unfollow apps
Hundreds of unfollow apps are the first thing you see when you Google this topic. Most of them used to work at some point, but that is no longer the case. If you look at the reviews of these apps, you’ll notice that they all have a pretty inflated rating, despite more than half of people saying they don’t work.
These apps are not only a waste of time, but most of them also want to scam you. They are stealing your information or your money if you decide to pay for the premium versions. Absolutely none of the Instagram unfollow apps work, and they all have similar names and descriptions.
Don’t fall in love with them! Getting an Instagram unfollow app can cause your IG account to be temporarily or even permanently blocked. It can also steal your login information and other confidential information.
Avoid Google Play Store, App Store and especially third party apps and sites like AirGrow. You will simply have to manually stop following the accounts on IG, it is the only way. Or is that it?
If you can afford to unfollow all accounts on Instagram, why not create a new account? This is much easier than manually unfollowing every person, bot, and page on Instagram. Also, it will save you a lot of time and effort.
Download Instagram on your mobile (the web version is very limited) through the official application store of your platform. Here are links to Android Y iOS devices. You will also need a new email address and / or mobile phone number.
You cannot use the same numbers or email that you used for the old account. Other than that, a new registration is really easy. Just follow the onscreen instructions and enter your information when prompted. Confirm your email or phone number and you are good to go.
With a new account, you can follow whoever you want and start from scratch. It seems like a much better idea than messing with sketchy third-party apps or manually unfollowing everyone on IG.
The manual method
Although a bit more difficult, this method is not bad either. If you want to unfollow only some IG accounts, it is better to do it manually. This way, you can keep your old IG profile, but also control who you follow.
It’s a half-solid measure because you can keep the followers you want and ditch the ones you don’t want. Although this should be self explanatory, this is how manually unfollowing works on IG:
- Login to your IG account.
- Touch your profile (icon in the lower right corner of the screen).
- Tap Followers at the top center of your screen. You can also tap on the follower count.
- Review the list of your followers and press Delete to the right of their username.
- Confirm the message.
- Repeat the steps for all the followers you want to remove.
- You can do the same for the people you are following (this does not need confirmation).
You can use the feed categories that you interacted with the least and the ones that are displayed the most to help you remove the people you follow (that is, spammers and inactive people).
Important advice on the matter
Keep in mind that if you unfollow too many people at once, it may appear suspicious. Keep the number of stops following to approximately 50 at a time. You can repeat the process approximately every hour. As mentioned, the people you unfollow won’t even notice, unless they visit your profile.
Another thing worth knowing is that the next limit on Instagram is 7,500. You can’t follow more people than that, but you can obviously have any number of followers. Some celebrities have millions of followers, which must be very nice.
If you want to use IG for business, you need to take special care of your followers and the following ratio. In case you have a really bad follower ratio (for example, only half of the people follow you), they might not take you seriously.
Most Instagram users just use it for fun. Still, ordering your Instagram feed is very smart. Why would you look at posts from people you don’t like? Also, consider unfollowing spammers who have to post every few hours and can’t live without the attention.
Finally, you may want to remove all inactive IG profiles from your follower list, even though they don’t do you any harm.
Don’t be fooled by online scams. Remember, there is no legitimate way to unfollow everyone on IG. You have to be careful even when you do it manually. If you don’t want your account banned, just unfollow a certain number of people at a time.
Instagram has very strict policies, so make sure you adhere to them. Of course, creating a new account is not a bad solution either, especially if you follow too many people. Let us know what you think about the matter in the comment section below.
