Nier Series Creator Yoko Taro Declares Franchise Over

PCGamesN reports that in a Christmas video for fans, Nier and Drakengard creator Yoko Taro stated the Deny Series finished, waiting to receive a lot of money to continue it.

Appearing with him is producer Yosuke Saito, who plays on Taro’s comments like it’s a bit of some kind. In response to Saito’s question about what Taro wants to do with the series in the future, Taro replies, “Nothing!” Take the opportunity to say that the Nier series is finished. However, Saito doesn’t accept any of that and points out that it could be a lie. Then Taro said that he would reconsider if they gave him a large amount of money.

This isn’t the first time that Yoko Taro and other members of her team have communicated with fans using humor and self-deprecation. In fact, that’s all they have. So it’s unclear if this really is the end of Nier or not, but it appears the team isn’t working on anything related to Nier. Unless it is.

Ultimately, it’s okay for the series to stop where it is, especially given the impact it continues to have on games. Not everything has to be swept away forever, and the two games continue to capture audiences’ hearts and imaginations.

The Nier Replicant remake just got rave reviews after an extremely popular game-changer on Nier Automata, which continues to receive support even today. As for the Replicant, it stayed more faithful to the original than many people thought.
