Dragon’s Dogma is an RPG that Capcom released in May 2012 that, without being perfect, turned out to be a pleasant surprise that won many fans. Since then, there are those who are crying out for a sequel and it seems that 2022 could be the year in which this wish is fulfilled.

What happens is that Hideaki Itsuno, director of Dragon’s Dogma, shared a message on social networks to his fans. It is a short tweet in which he wished 2022 a happy year and assured that the “next project” has progressed over the last 12 months and invited his followers to be aware of its revelation.

It should be remembered that, in previous years, Itsuno has made similar publications to raise the hype for his new projects.

Why do you think it will be Dragon’s Dogma 2?

If you are a fan of Capcom projects you know that Itsuno is more than the director of Dragon’s Dogma. During his more than 25 years at Capcom, the creative has been a key player in the development of franchises such as Devil May Cry The Power StoneWhy think that your next project will be Dragon’s Dogma 2 and not a Devill May Cry or something completely new?

The reason is simple: a leak in Capcom’s database revealed projects that are supposedly on the way and one of them is Dragon’s Dogma 2. Apparently this sequel was scheduled to arrive in the second quarter of fiscal 2022. So an announcement for next year makes sense.

Another point that is important to note is that Itsuno has been showing his interest in developing Dragon’s Dogma 2. Added to that are rumors that Itsuno’s team is making an open world RPG in RE Engine and a sequel to Dragon’s Dogma would fall into that genre.
