Naturally, many fans were hopeful that this relaunch would serve as a vehicle to revive the franchise and eventually see the debut of a sixth installment. Of course, for the latter to be even a possibility it was necessary that the remake of Virtua Fighter 5 have a good reception.

Fortunately for the fans, Seiji Aoki, producer of the video game, said in an interview for the portal Dengeki Online that Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown it was a huge success and exceeded SEGA’s expectations. In addition, he reiterated that this relaunch was not intended to raise money, but was intended to be a kind of “Trojan horse” to revive interest in the franchise.

While emphasizing that there is still nothing official, Seiji Aoki commented in the interview that, today more than ever, there are many possibilities that the Japanese company will give the green light to the production of a new installment. We cross our fingers for this to happen.
