G2 Esports will return to VALORANT Champions Tour 2022 with a new line-up for the second year of official competition. Today, the organization announced that it has signed Giants Gaming extrio of Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas, Johan “Meddo” Renbjörk Lundborg and trainer Daniil “pipsoN” Meshcheryakov. Both players are highly experienced in CS: GO and have also competed in the VCT.

The rest of the team is made up of Óscar “Mixwell” Cañellas, Žygimantas “Nukkye” Chmieliauskas and Auni “AvovA” Chahade. In addition to bringing in new players, G2 got rid of coach Neil “neilzinho” Finlay, and put young Wassim “keloqz” Cista on the bench with the option of changing teams.

A few days ago, G2 said goodbye to Koldamenta, the player it acquired from Acend in July. At the same time, Acend brought in Aleksander “zeek” Zygmunt from G2 with whom he won the 2021 Champions.

Earlier in the year, the Giants featured an all-Spanish roster that was soon acquired by the 19esports organization. For VCT, the Giants played a European lineup that was constantly altered. The only players who stayed with the Giants from the beginning to the end of the 2021 campaign were Hoody and Meddo.

G2 were more successful in their initial VCT campaign, especially after their midseason shakeup. It was the first team to beat Sentinels in a face-to-face event at the Berlin Masters and reached the semi-finals of that tournament. But he fell a bit short in points to qualify directly for the Champions, and ended the season suffering back-to-back losses to Liquid and Guild in the Last Chance Qualifier.

The new G2 roster will debut in the EMEA Challengers playoffs in late January or early February 2022.
