Yoko Taro jokes and claims that the NieR franchise has come to an end | Levelup

The franchise Deny gained a lot of popularity after the release of the excellent NieR: Automata 2017, a title that surprised locals and strangers with its melancholic story, memorable soundtrack and characters who have already established themselves as icons of the industry. Given this, it is easy to think that the franchise has a promising future ahead of it and that a new installment is already in development. However, Yoko Taro, creator and creative director of the series, may have other plans in mind.

This week, director Yoko Taro, producer Yosuke Saito, and composer Keiichi Okabe sent a Christmas message to the community through a short video. As expected, they thanked the support of the fans and recalled that NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 it has already managed to exceed one million copies sold.

At one point in the video, producer Yosuke Saito asked Yoko Taro if he had any news related to the future of the franchise, to which the Japanese creative responded with a resounding “no.” A short time later, he said in a joking tone that there will be no more games of Deny.

Of course, the Japanese director continued with the joke and stated that he could make more titles in the series if they offer him a large sum of money. We must remember that, in 2017, he expressed his desire to do a remake of the first game and commented that he would do anything as long as he had the necessary funding. Either way, his statements should not be taken too seriously.
