Guillermo del Toro clarifies the comment he made to Konami about Silent Hill | Levelup

The Game Awards 2021 left many surprises and one of the appearances that gave more to talk about was that of the renowned Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, as he made a mention of Konami around Silent Hill, which to some seemed like a hint about a new project in the horror series. However, this is not the case and the filmmaker took the opportunity to clarify what his intention was.

In case you don’t remember or missed it, Del Toro said he loved the art direction of Silent Hill and I was expecting a new installment of the horror franchise. Well, the filmmaker was on the podcast Happy Sad Cofused (via GameSpot) and during the talk he was questioned about his appearance at The Game Awards and revealed if he was involved in the development of a new game, as many of the fans wanted to think.

However, unfortunately for some, the creative clarified that this is not the case, but that his mention of Konami was only to cause some grace to the company. “It’s just one of the things in my life that doesn’t make sense,” Del Toro said about the cancellation of Silent Hills: “I just wanted to amuse Konami because I don’t understand. It was so perfect, what we were going to do was so fascinating.”

Will Guillermo del Toro return to work on a video game?

The Mexican filmmaker took the opportunity to bring up the subject of his participation in video games, which has been very unfortunate, which is why he believes that he will not work on a video game again. In case you don’t know, let us tell you that Del Toro was involved in the development of Insane, un survival horror de Volition (Saints Row) before it was also canceled in 2012.

“I do not think I will develop a game again because I am the albatross of gaming,” said Del Toro, although he acknowledged that he is fascinated by the narrative exercise offered by video games.
