S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Shadow of Chernobyl It’s between a rock and a hard place after GSC Game World confirmed that the title will feature NFTs and a metaverse-related project.

The announcement was not well received by players and fans of the franchise, who harshly criticized the studio for incorporating such elements into its ambitious sequel. Because of this, GSC Game World decided to talk about it and explain why it decided to jump on this controversial trend.

Why S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will it have NFTs?

During an interview with Wccftech, GSC Game World explained that they are always open to new technologies and offers that can bring something of value to their community of players. With this in mind, they decided to partner with DMarket to bring the NFTs and the metaverse to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

“They introduced us to their technology that we believe will present our community with a whole new experience. I would call our relationship with DMarket an organic partnership that has grown out of mutual love and understanding of the needs and perspectives of the gaming community, ”commented Evgeniy Grygorovych, executive manager of the studio.

The executive revealed that GSC Game World will benefit from the initial sales of the NFTs and that DMarket will donate a portion of the proceeds to charities. Grygorovych noted that their approach to implementing non-fungible tokens is different from other companies, as they will do so in a fun way and in a single player title.

From their perspective, the proposal is valuable, with the advantage that it will not affect the gameplay experience and that it is a totally optional proposal that will be available to all those interested in NFTs.

GSC Game World knows that many players are against the use of these elements within the industry. Despite this, he does not fear a bad reception of the game, believing that in the end the community will “benefit and appreciate everything that the metaverse will bring.”

“This includes rewards, winning assets, trading, and the opportunity to win and have fun at the same time. In fact, there is a certain tension towards blockchain and NFT, because a lot of things have been done incorrectly in the space. We are taking this path because we would like to be among the first who will lead their community into a new digital age, “added Grygorovych.

Finally, GSC Game World reaffirmed that its project with DMarket includes other types of NFTs for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. However, the head of the study refused to talk about what they are preparing for the future.
