Do the AirPods 3 have transparency mode? What you need to know

AirPods 3 check a lot of boxes. They have good audio quality, reliable battery, and much more. But is transparency mode part of the equation?

The AirPods 3 stand out as some of the best headphones Apple have you ever done, but do they have a transparency mode feature? Since the first AirPods were released in 2016, Apple’s true wireless earbuds have been one of the most popular accessories on the market. They’re sleek, compact, and work seamlessly with other Apple devices. AirPods may not be the most affordable compared to other headphones, but that hasn’t stopped them from being a hit every year.

That brings us to AirPods 3. Released in late 2021, the AirPods 3 are an impressive evolution in the tried and true AirPods formula. They have a revamped design that’s more comfortable, improved audio quality, longer battery life, and wireless charging, all for $ 179. It’s a combination that’s certainly hard to argue with, but what about people who need transparency mode?

Unfortunately, that’s where the AirPods 3 lose some of their shine. Like the AirPods 2 before them, AirPods 3 yes no have a transparency mode of any type. It is still possible to hear some background noise with the AirPods 3, as they do not form an airtight seal in the ear. However, there is no way for the headphones to amplify those background noises like the AirPods Pro does.

Headphones to get if you need transparency mode

If transparency mode is a must-have feature for someone, the good news is that there are other alternatives. Take the Beats Fit Pro, for example. They sound great, have a sporty design, transparency mode, and even active noise cancellation. The best part? They cost $ 199 (only $ 20 more than the AirPods 3). There are also AirPods Pro. They also have transparency mode and active noise cancellation, along with a more familiar AirPods design. The retail price is a bit more expensive at $ 249, although they are occasionally on sale for $ 200 or less.

If anything, this serves as a good reminder of just how varied Apple’s portfolio of headphones is these days. Want headphones with a one-size-fits-all design, seamless Apple integration, and the lowest possible price? The AirPods 3 are a solid bet. They don’t have more advanced capabilities like transparency or ANC mode, but the features they offer are top-notch. And for someone who needs those extra things, the Beats Fit Pro and AirPods Pro are solid options in their own right. There may be a future where AirPods 4 or AirPods 5 get transparency mode as the default feature, but for now, that’s reserved for De Apple more expensive options.
