Double delay! System Shock Remake and Enhanced Game Debut Later | Levelup

There has been some very good news lately for fans of System ShockAs not only is a remake of the original game in development, an improved version with virtual reality of the second installment and the third title in the series, but also a live-action series. Unfortunately, the delay of 2 of these projects was confirmed today.

The developer Nightdive Studios reported that it needs more time to have the remake of System Shock. The title was expected to debut in the summer of this year, but today the studio revealed that it delayed its premiere until 2022, without offering a release date or window.

However, it was not all bad news, as the study announced that the project already has a distributor: Prime Matter, owned by Koch Media. According to the studio’s CEO, Stephen Kick (via PC Gamer), an important step in the growth of Nightdive Studios, which will allow the remake to be offered in both physical and digital format worldwide, apart from ensuring a simultaneous launch on PC and PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox consoles. This new agreement will in no way affect the rewards of the Kickstarter funding campaign, such as the closed beta for those who supported the project, which is scheduled for early 2022.

System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition was also delayed

With the announcement of the delay of the remake of System Shock, it was also confirmed that of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, which is an improved version of the original sequel.

Nightdive Studios had planned to release this other project in the same release window of the remake of System Shock. So this title is expected to be available sometime in 2022 as well.

Nightdive Studios also took the opportunity to talk about the VR version of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition. This component of the game, as we mentioned, would arrive later than the improved base version. As you can see, there is still a long way to go to visit a game of System Shock in virtual reality, but the studio shared the first images that show the progress it is making.
