Pokémon Legends: Arceus Hisuian Voltorb has been confirmed

It has been announced that Pokémon Legends: Arceus will feature Hisuian Voltorb, which is an electric / grass-type version of Kanto’s Voltorb.

It has been revealed that Pokémon Legends: Arceus will feature Hisuian Voltorb, which is an Electric / Grass-type version of the classic Pokémon that debuted in the Kanto region. Speculation about Hisuian Voltorb began yesterday when the official Pokémon Legends: Arceus The website added explosive Poké Balls, which many saw as an indication that Pokémon famous for using Explosion and Self-Destruct were coming to the game.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus It will feature primitive steam-powered Poké Balls, in a departure from the series’ iconic red and blue plastic design. This change has raised doubts about the classic Voltorb line, as they resemble the classic Poké Ball design. If Poké Balls ever had a different design and weren’t powered by electricity, did Voltorb suddenly appear one day? In general, it is considered more likely that Game Freak was not thinking that far when Red pokemon and Blue were in development, and any anachronisms can easily be ignored, due to the series having an unclear timeline.

It seems Game Freak had a plan for Voltorb’s contradiction the whole time. A new video in The official Pokémon YouTube channel has confirmed that Pokémon Legends: Arceus will feature Hisuian Voltorb. There is no news on Hisuian Electrode, but it will likely be in the game, based on the leaks regarding Hisuian’s upcoming forms. The Hisuian Voltorb has more angled eyebrows, a hole on the top of its head, and a wood finish on the lower half of its body.

Check out the trailer on YouTube here.

The most surprising thing about Hisuian Voltorb is his typing. Fans had speculated that Hisuian Voltorb would be a Fire / Water type, to coincide with the steam-powered Poké Balls in the Hisui region. It turns out that Hisuian Voltorb is actually an electric / grass type. This will be the second time this guy has appeared in the series, and the other is Rotom’s Mow form. According to the official Pokémon Legends: Arceus website, Hisuian Voltorb’s body is filled with seeds and he shoots electricity from the hole in his head. Hisuian Voltorb is known to be excitable and is often expelled from human settlements due to his tendency to scandalize people. The trailer also shows him using Explosion or Self-Destruct, keeping the theme of the original Voltorb.

The Voltorb line has often been ignored when it comes to regional forms, Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves, and Gigantamax forms. It’s great to see Game Freak acknowledge the questions raised by the different types of Poké Balls and the existence of Voltorb. A Pokémon’s environment seems to dictate its appearance, so it makes sense that Voltorb has changed over time, as Poké Balls became more advanced.

Pokémon Legends Arceus Releases for Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022.
