Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok has left Invictus Gaming after spending more than 4 years with the team. The legendary top-laner’s contract ended in mid-November. At the time, the player said that he was still negotiating with the organization, but today IG officially announced his departure and wished him the best.
TheShy came to IG in May 2017 and played a huge role in their victory against Fnatic, which led to them taking the world championship in 2018. The 22-year-old Korean returned to Worlds in 2019 but fell in the semi-finals against FunPlus Phoenix.
After that loss, IG had a hard time getting up and getting good results again in the LPL. The team was left out of Worlds 2020 and 2021, so now its members want to change of scene and compete in the 2022 season with different squads.

TheShy isn’t the only player to leave the organization recently. Song “Rookie” Eui-jin, Ding “Puff” Wang, Wu “Snow” Hao-Shun and Su “Southwind” Zhi-Lin also did not renew their contract with IG during the preseason.
Rookie and TheShy have been partners for a long time, but it is unclear if their wish is to join another squad and continue playing together. At this point, much of the professional teams already have their signings secured, so the Korean duo doesn’t seem to have much of a choice.
With the departure of TheShy, IG’s current roster consists of Gao “Ning” Zhen-Ning, Peng “XUN” Li-Xun, Zhang “Wink” Rui, Wang “Baolan” Liu-Yi and Li “Lucas” Tan- Pan-Ao. In the coming days, the organization will surely share news about their new signings.
