Can’t get enough of the Crawley family? There may be a whole decade of Downton Abbey episodes and a feature film to watch, but for some period drama fans, that’s just not enough. However, the good news is that there are many other programs that are like Downton Abbey, with lovely new families, love triangles, and gossip-filled stories to keep you looking forward to another era. With big stars like Mark Rylance, Damian Lewis and Claire Foy, Wolf room will do everything Downton Abbey fans feel at home. The historical drama follows the story of Thomas Cromwell, who rose through the ranks of society from humble beginnings as the son of a blacksmith. Cromwell becomes Prime Minister to King Henry VIII, and the episodes chronicle his life dealing with the power struggles of the complex Tudor Court. The mysteries of the murder of Miss Fisher takes place almost at the same time as Downton Abbey – meaning if you’re looking for more early 1900s fashion, crime and drama, a treat awaits. The series follows Phryne Fisher, a budding detective known for her quick wit and pearl-handled pistol. Although the series does not take place in England as Downton Abbey (It takes place in Melbourne, Australia!), It still retains the signature charm of a 20th century period drama.

‘Bridgerton’

You’ve probably already heard of Bridgertondear reader, but if you haven’t, read on. Shonda Rhimes’ first collaboration with Netflix mashes Downton Abbey with Gossip Girl, creating a gripping period drama for all ages. So far only the first season has been released, following Daphne Bridgerton’s elaborate ruse with the Duke of Hastings, but each new season is destined to follow a new Bridgerton boy on his quest for love. It may not be as durable as Downton Abbey still, but get on board the Bridgerton to the car before you have a lot to do to catch up.
