Back to the drawing board.
It’s another late season as more and more titles roll into 2022. Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is among them, now targeting May 19 rather than a very full February.
Big Bad Wolf, the team behind Nacon’s game, dropped the ad about this “difficult decision” on Twitter. The developers said those extra three months will ensure the highest possible quality for the narrative role-playing game without breaking a “healthy work-life balance” for the small but passionate team. In short, Big Bad Wolf wants to avoid crisis in the final stages of development and this is undoubtedly a wise move.
According to the team, the new delay will allow them to apply some additional polish and provide additional testing for this product that “rivals the kind of personal storytelling you would experience in a large tabletop session.” Swansong is based on the fifth edition of the board game Vampire: The Masquerade and the team aims to capture the same general sentiment. The studio thanked everyone for their patience and support.
Fans of the Vampire franchise may recall that it is not Swansong’s first postponement, which was originally scheduled for release this year. However, it appears that the pandemic threw a pair of wrenches into the planning of the study.
The next installment in the Vampire: The Masquerade series, Swansong, aims to deliver a world of political intrigue and supernatural mystery that will draw you in, force you to make tough decisions, and face the consequences. The game will feature a variety of diverse characters, dialogue packed with options, plot twists, and various endings. Big Bad Wolf wants you to think about the game long after the credits roll and have a reason to go back and relive the adventure.
Aside from Swansong, there are other projects in the World of Darkness universe that are in development, including the long-suffering Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Previously, Paradox Interactive revealed that the sequel was on the verge of being completely scrapped, but another unannounced. . The “respectable and talented” team came up with some credible ideas for the game. Bloodlines 2 doesn’t have a release window yet, but the game probably won’t be out in 2022.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong will come to PC through the Epic Games Store, as well as to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and Nintendo Switch.
