There are very few things for sure in life, but the launch of a new Call of Duty every year is one of them. This is not surprising, as the Activision franchise is one of the most lucrative in the industry. Nevertheless, Call of Duty: Vanguard, the most recent installment that debuted a few weeks ago, underperformed other titles in the series. This, of course, can be the consequence of many reasons.

In case you did not know, Call of Duty: Vanguard It arrived in stores on November 5 with a lot of noise around it, as it managed to position itself among the best sellers in the United Kingdom. However, their sales saw a considerable decline compared to other franchise deliveries.

In fact, the Sledgehammer Games shooter became the worst debut of the series in more than 10 years in Spain and the United Kingdom. Thus, it is inevitable to ask ourselves the reasons why this video game failed to stand out. Fortunately, a recent survey by GamesIndustry.biz let us see some of the reasons.

Players reveal why they didn’t buy Call of Duty: Vanguard

GamesIndustry.biz, in association with PAX and EGX, surveyed 671 players from the United States and the United Kingdom. Of these, 284 people assured that they bought a game from the war franchise in the last 5 years, but only 59 (21%) of that group bought Call of Duty: Vanguard.

This means that an impressive 79% did not buy the new installment in the series. What is this about? Of course, there are many reasons. For starters, 55% of those surveyed in that group say they are currently busy with other games, while 34% say they needed a break from the franchise.

On the other hand, 24% of people say they are not interested in WWII games, while another 20% say that the reviews the game received discouraged them from buying it. Likewise, 11% say they save to buy other titles such as Battlefield 2042 and Halo Infinite.

Unsurprisingly, the recent harassment scandals engulfing Activision Blizzard also had to do with the game’s poor performance. 6% of players who participated in the survey said they did not buy CoD: Vanguard due to the situation the company is experiencing.

But tell us, why didn’t you buy this title? Let us read you in the comments.
