Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: How to find Firestones (and all Pokémon that evolve)

Firestones are needed to evolve Eevee, Vulpix, and Growlithe into Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Here are all the places players can find them.

Evolution stones have played an important role in the Pokemon series from the beginning and continue to do so in modern Pokemon games. These days, however, there are ten different stones available instead of just five, and all but one appear in Shiny Diamond Pokémon AND Shiny pearl. The functionality remains largely the same, although the way that players find certain Evolution Stones has changed quite a bit over the years.

Unlike first-gen games, in which players could simply purchase most of the evolution stones from a department store, Bright diamond AND Shiny pearl It requires players to find the stones they need on the field. However, those hoping to get their hands on a fire stone have a few different options, as these iconic yellow and orange stones appear in a few different locations throughout the games.

The best place to find Fire Stones is inside the Fire Iron, an optional location that can be found north of Floaroma Town by using Surf to travel west on Route 205. Inside, players will be able to find a Fire Stone in the upper right corner of the facility and can obtain another by talking to Mr. Fire in the center of the labyrinth. Players will also be able to exchange colored shards for valuable star pieces here, making it a good place to visit after a long mining session in the Great Underground.

While on the subject of the Great subway, players can also find Fire Stones there simply by participating in the digging minigame. They’re not exactly common, but those hoping to unearth enough Mysterious Shards to obtain all of the Legendary Pokémon that are available in Ramanas Park will spend a lot of time digging there, so they will likely end up finding a somewhat sizable supply of Fire Stones in the process.

Pokémon that evolve using Firestones into Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl

  • Vulpix -> Ninetales
  • Growlithe -> Arcanine
  • Eevee -> Flareon

There are only three Pokémon that evolve using a Fire Stone in Bright diamond AND Shiny pearl Because the games only include Pokémon up to Generation 4. Interestingly, all three are Generation 1 Pokémon, although two of them are version specific. Bright diamond players will be able to find Growlithe down in the Great Underground, while Shiny pearl players instead will get Vulpix. The final Pokémon that evolves using a Fire Stone is Eevee, which players can obtain from Bebe in Hearthome City after unlocking the National Pokedex.
