En MotoGP if you have registered this to 278 rock. And what stands out most of all is that those who were on the back of a Honda they were the ones who had the most accidents. The figure speaks eloquently of the difficulty of the pilots of the mark of the golden wing to command their respective weapons. The 2021 RC213V proved to be a critical bike with which it was very easy to hit the ground.
In total they are 75 hits broken down to: Marc Mrquez (22) and Pol Espargar (20) with the official team; to which must be added those of the LCR Team: lex Mrquez (19) y Takaaki Nakagami (12). And to these must be added the 2 of the tester Stefan Bradl.
But if we focus on Marc, we see that it was a very difficult year for the eighth champion. He only participated in 14 of the great prizes. And yet it crashed 22 times. And the hardest of the year came … in training. He fell before the Algarve GP with the Enduro bike. And that led him to suffer a new diplopa episode (double vision).
Iker Lecuona, the most affected
The fact is that a quarter of the falls (26%) in the queen class had Honda racers as victims. And that they do not count in their ranks the king of mishaps in the campaign that was closed in Valencia. The leader in this painful section was Iker Lecuona (Tech 3). Precisely, KTM He accumulated 58 falls, of which 26 were for a rider who will run the SBK World Championship next year.
Special mention deserve the pilots of Ducati (72) y Yamaha (25). The most competitive mount was the Desmosedici GP21. Jorge Martn He was the one who had the worst time with this fast bike (especially with that chilling accident in Portimao). But it is striking that Pecco Bagnaia (second at the end in the general) only suffered 7 incidents. And on the mark of the tuning forks was the champion. A Fabio Quartararo it just fell off too (7 like the ’63’). And the third, Joan Mir, also avoided entering this highly unrecommendable ranking. The one of Suzuki (20) suffered 8 mishaps.
And to conclude the review we must not forget that Aprilia had 28 falls, being Aleix Espargar (18) worst off in this incident classification.
950 falls in total
Finally, it should be noted that in the season just ended in November, a total of 950 falls were recorded in the three categories during the 18 racing weekends. We already pointed out that there was 278 in the queen category. While 367 were produced in Moto2 and 305 in Moto3. Recall that in 2019, in 19 events, there were 971 incidents.
