Hitman 3 will get new maps as the series surpasses 50 million players in total

Hitman 3 will get “new maps, new stories, new modes” and “new ways to play” in 2022.

Hitman 3 is the most successful Hitman game of all time. That’s according to IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak, who broke the news in a video update for all the new content coming in the second year of Hitman 3.

“Through hard work, courage, determination and attachment to our weapons in some difficult times, Hitman 3 now stands as the most successful Hitman game of all time”, Abrak said, adding that the entire World of Assassination Trilogy has now surpassed 50 million players in total.

We already know that Hitman 3 is a huge financial success thanks to the IOI announcing “record earnings” following the game’s launch last January. Total revenue increased 136% to $ 78 million for the year, with Hitman 3 reaching 300% of its sales budget by October 2021.

That massive success has encouraged IO Interactive to add Hitman 3 in its second year with new features, new technology, and best of all, new content. The PC version of Hitman 3 is getting some extra love with ray tracing and virtual reality next year. PC VR will come first in January, and ray tracing will come later.

Sadly, there was no mention of DLSS, which would have been a huge benefit for VR gamers using Nvidia GPUs.

Even if you are not a PC gamer, there is still a lot to look forward to in Hitman 3 next year. Abrak said there will be “new maps, new stories, new modes” and “new ways to play” next year, along with “some surprises” and something the Hitman community has been asking for “a very, very long time.”

Details will be revealed in January, but to give us a sneak peek, the video ends with a look at one of the new maps. It appears to be a very modern looking mansion in the middle of an ancient wooden forest, with a grass roof and a hallway full of weapons. Expect to learn more in the new year.
