Fantina, the fifth gym leader of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, fights with Ghost-type Pokémon and rewards players with the Relic Badge.
Pokémon: Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl The fifth gym leader is Fantina, the ghost user of the Hearthome Gym. While players will arrive in Hearthome City earlier in the game and meet Fantina outside the Contest Hall, she refuses to fight them until they are stronger. However, after defeating gym leaders Maylene and Crasher Wake, players can return to the Hearthome Gym and challenge Fantina.
Unlike the other gyms in the game, there are no trainers in Hearthome Gym, and players must answer a series of math questions to get to Fantina. There are four questions in total, the final of which asks the players to remember the answer to the first question, which is 15. Once the players have answered all of them correctly, they will be able to challenge Fantina, who is waiting for them at the final room. .
Ghost-type Pokémon are strong against other Ghost and Psychic-type Pokémon, but from weak to dark, and their moves have no effect on normal Pokémon. They are also resistant to the movements of insects, poisons and fighting. It is crucial that players create a strategic group to defeat Fantina.
How to beat Fantina in Pokémon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl
Fantina’s three Pokémon are the same as her original group of Diamond and pearl: Drifblim, Gengar and Mismagius. However, all of his move sets have been updated to Brilliant diamond and brilliant pearl.
Drifblim / Ghost and flight / Level 32
- Sap of strength
Fantina’s Drifblum also has the Aftermath ability, which will deal damage if knocked out with a physical move.
Gengar / Ghost and Poison / Level 34
- Shadow Claw
- Mud bomb
- Confused ray
- Dazzling shine
Fantina’s Gengar holds a Colbur Berry, allowing him to weaken a super effective dark-type move used against him.
Mismagius / Ghost / Level 36
- Dazzling shine
- Phantom force
- Magic leaf
- Confused ray
Ghost, Flying, and Poison-type Pokémon are all resistant to Fighting Types, so it’s a good idea to leave any Fighting-type Pokémon on the squares for this battle in the Gym. Rock and Steel types counteract Drifblum’s secondary flight type and Gengar’s secondary poison type. A Luxray with the Dark-type Bite move works well in this fight too, as its electric-type moves will allow players to quickly knock out Driflblim and take on the two toughest Pokémon in this fight.
Ground and Psychic types will be effective against Gengar, but players who choose to fight with Psychic-type Pokémon will have to keep an eye out for Gengar’s Shadow Claw, which can knock out psychic types in one hit. Girafarig is an excellent choice to counter Gengar, as his normal / psychic type makes him immune to ghost-type moves. Any Pokémon with moves that confuse or put opponents to sleep will give Trainers a strategic advantage in battle. A Psyduck or Kedabra with the Disable ability will also be able to prevent Gengar from using Shadow Claw for five turns if he can use the move before being knocked out. Mismagius can be countered with a Dark-type Pokémon like Murkrow, Stunky, or Skuntank, but Stunky and Skuntank’s Poison moves won’t be very effective.
After defeating Fantina, Trainers will receive their Relic Badge, which allows them to use Hidden Move Surf. He will also give you five TM65s, which will teach you the Shadow Claw move. Players will also receive their set of stickers to customize their Poké Balls.
