BioWare has undergone several major departures in recent years and now one more is added. We say so since it was confirmed that Matt Goldman, creative director in charge of the franchise Dragon Age and who was in charge of Dragon Age 4, left the study.
As reported Kotaku, Gary McKay, CEO of BioWare sent an email to the study staff. In it he notified that Goldman left the company as part of a mutual agreement.
“I understand that Matt’s departure had an impact on all of you, as well as the development of the game. You can be sure that our commitment to deliver a Dragon Age high quality and we will not release a game that is not up to BioWare standards, “said McKay.
It is worth mentioning that McKay assured that the Electronic Arts executive team has “absolute confidence” in the BioWare leadership team.
An Electronic Arts spokesperson confirmed to Kotaku that Goldman exited BioWare and that the development of Dragon Age remains in “excellent hands”. “With the studio team we will move forward with our vision for the game,” the company concluded.
Who is Matt Goldman?
In case you don’t recognize him, you should know that Matt Goldman is one of the most important creatives in BioWare history. We say it since he worked on some of his biggest games.
Goldman began his career at BioWare in 1998 and in his early years worked as an artist at Baldur’s Gate and Jade Empire. He also had the opportunity to work on the first installments in Dragon Age. It was in 2017 when he took the baton of Dragon Age 4 in the position of creative director after the project was restarted.
It is worth mentioning that, in its extensive career in the world of gaming, Goldman has not only worked in BioWare. What happens is that he also collaborated in Ensemble Estudio in the development of Halo Wars.
