Mortal Kombat has received in its latest installments a series of guest characters of authentic luxury that have allowed us to enjoy such surprising and unexpected crossovers between licenses such as RoboCop, Rambo, Spawn o Terminator, to mention just a few examples.
As usually happens in these cases, many fans have begun to fantasize about possible collaborations that they would like to see in the future in the next installments of the saga and names like Neo from The Matrix or the same John Wick they are quite recurring. However, to Keanu Reeves, the actor who plays both, would not like these two action movie heroes to come up against Scorpion and company, as he recently stated in an interview with Esquire.
An unlikely collaboration
“If it were up to me, this collaboration would never happen“, coment Reeves. “Mortal Kombat it is surprising in many ways. But I think, you know, Neo … John Wick … they’re something else. “
Here we cannot forget the fact that so much Mortal Kombat What The Matrix are licenses owned by Warner Bros., so it doesn’t seem like a crossover like this would be too difficult, although considering these comments from Reeves it doesn’t seem like we’ll ever see Neo perform fatalities. With John Wick, things are even more unlikely, as his rights belong to Lionsgate.
Finally, we want to remind you that Ed Boon, the boss of NetherRealm, commented in 2019 that would have loved to add the two Reeves characters in Mortal Kombat 11, although he never went into detail on the reasons why the crossover it never happened.
Neo returning in Matrix Resurrections
Although it seems that we are going to run out of Neo in Mortal Kombat, at least we will have the chance to see him in action on the big screen again with the premiere of Matrix Resurrections next December 22 in all theaters in Spain.
