This week, thousands of players already had the opportunity to enjoy the excellent multiplayer of Halo Infinite. Yet a section of the community is keen to get their hands on the campaign and put their skills to the test in the toughest difficulties. While the Master Chief adventure will be very challenging for those who want it, it will also be more accessible for those who require it.

During a recent chat with the portal VGC, Character Director Stephen Dyck discussed the philosophy with which they worked on the difficulty of the single player campaign.

Halo Infinite will be challenging, but also accessible

The creative assured that, unlike previous deliveries of the franchise, the Halo Infinite It was designed with “normal” difficulty in mind in order to make the experience more accessible for novice players.

Stephen Dyck explains that, traditionally, the franchise was developed with the Heroic difficulty in mind, something that also happened in Halo 4 and Halo 5. Thus, only a few adjustments were made for Easy and Normal modes, while increasing the challenge in Legendary mode. However, this changed in the most recent installment.

In case you missed it: No more delays! Halo Infinite is set to debut on December 8

“This time we have spent much more time [ajustando] Normal difficulty for new players. That does not mean that Heroic is not difficult or that Legendary is not very hard, those are things that are still part of Halo“explained the director.

Stephen Dyck goes on and states that they want players to have a lot of fun and not feel like they hit a wall from a gameplay point of view.

“One of the philosophies we had is that the player is always correct (…) If the player wants to use something or a certain type of weapon, while other types of weapon are more capable, we will never say: ‘ You’re just wrong, you can’t do that. ‘”

Finally, Paul Crocker, associate creative director at 343 Industries, commented that in the open areas of the campaign there will be a kind of “golden road” that will guide players, but that by going off that route it will be possible to find more challenging optional moments.

“The further you go from the golden path, you will find peaks of difficulty that are challenges to return to if you fail when you first encounter them,” said the creative.
