Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021 review: artificial intelligence takes control

Adobe Photoshop Elements is the ultimate consumer app for photo editing. It established its stellar reputation over decades of showcasing advancements, putting complex photo editing techniques in the hands of amateurs for a variety of family and social media presentations. Adobe Photoshop Elements, which is updated every year, strives to add new sophisticated features to the application while maintaining its ease of use at the consumer level. As in the past, the 2021 version achieves that goal with an accelerated focus on Adobe Sensei, its signature artificial intelligence engine.

With Sensei, Adobe introduces features like Face Tilt, adding 3D motion to still images, moving and scaling objects, replacing dull skies, and adding special effects like duotones. This helps hobbyists, hobbyists, and those who remember Mom or Dad bring their photo collections to life for friends and family, whether it’s for the digital photo frame or Facebook.

Note: This Adobe Photoshop Elements review covers only the newest features for version 2021.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021: precio

Photoshop Elements 2021 is the same price as always for a new perpetual license or an upgrade to an existing version. Its main retail price is $ 99.99, with upgrades priced at $ 79.99. Combine Photoshop Elements with the Premiere Elements companion video app and you’ll pay $ 149.99 or $ 119.99 for the included upgrade. Note that Adobe and other vendors often sell Adobe Elements, so prices may vary.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021: System Requirements

Adobe Photoshop Elements works on both Mac and Windows with the latest operating systems on a 6th generation Intel processor and 8GB of RAM. On Mac, you will need MacOS 10.14 to 10.15 or MacOS 11. For Windows, you will need Windows 10 (version 1903 or later).

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021: New Features

Improved organizer

Adobe Elements Organizer is a separate helper application that ships with the photo and video editors or package. It acts as a clearinghouse for all assets, allowing you to perform a series of search, exchange, sort, and compose operations between the two programs. With this update, Adobe can now automatically back up your catalog structure, selected albums, keyword tags, people, places, and events. This operation does not require user intervention and does not offer any changes to the interface, although there is an alert that notifies you that this function is available, giving you the option to enable or bypass it. Either way, keep in mind that it doesn’t backup your photos or videos.

Tilt of the face

Having used this handy menu-driven feature once, it’s surprising to find out how many duo or group portraits benefit from this seemingly small setting. Many photos of groups or couples are clouded by people looking or looking in different directions.

The new Face Tilt feature allows you to coordinate portraits so that people are more or less face to face or in the same way, while the Adjust Facial Features command gives you additional options to adjust the angle of the eyes and other facial features. Because these are modest adjustments and not bulk composition changes, edits tend to look natural. This great feature is buried in the Enhance> Adjust Facial Features menu.

Perfect Landscape Guided Edit

This guided edit, step-by-step instructions to guide you through the effect, offers various levels, from removing haze to completely replacing the sky, but it’s not the magic bullet that’s guaranteed to save every boring landscape shot. When it works it works very well and there are several opportunities to tweak the results such as altering the opacity and brightness of the effect or using the Refine Edge feature if the effect is not as accurate as you would like. A spot healing brush removes annoying objects or people from your socket.

The trick is to strike a balance between a small correction like haze, which is often all that is needed, rather than replacing the sky with an effect that could overpower the original photo. A smart solution and haze removal can do enough to save a regular shot, but don’t depend on Perfect Landscape to correct poor lighting and poor composition.

Guided duotone edition

Duotones, which represent a color or black and white photo to just two contrasting colors that represent the dark and light parts of the image, are a great effect if used correctly. But that’s surprisingly difficult to achieve, as many photos don’t easily lend themselves to duotone treatment. The Normal Duotone Preset effect is easy to use and infinitely adjustable. You get a basic color scheme, which you can adjust for both intensity and opacity, and even change colors.

You can also overlay a shape instead of applying the effect to an entire photo. A gradient duotone allows you to set both a gradient style and an angle, and these can look especially nice and creative. Both variations provide endless variety, so it’s up to you to choose a well-exposed photo with good contrast that gives the effect a bit of punch.

Moving and Scaling Guided Editing of Objects

This advanced feature allows you to recompose a photo by moving certain objects within an image, such as people, animals, and other items, closer or farther for a more pleasing image. This is analogous to Photoshop’s Content Aware Fill feature, in that when you move the object, the program automatically fills the gap with background content that would otherwise be there.

Adobe is continually improving its content recognition functionality, and this feature works very well, even on busy backgrounds. Various tools such as the Spot Healing Brush and the Clone Stamp tool are also available to correct minor flaws.

Photography Photos

This basic menu effect is a complete GIF maker with a variety of limited zoom, pan, rotate, and tilt effects. Choose a photo with a strong theme, and then use the Motion Photos command in the Enhance menu for a selection of pan and zoom effects for your social media posts.

This tool worked as advertised, and the smooth 3D effect will make it popular for Facebook posts, but it offers limited range of motion.

Photoshop Elements already has several text-based and meme-style effects, and Quote Graphic is similar in its social media messaging mission. Sourced from the Create drop-down menu, the feature allows you to use preset templates, with numerous typography, background, customization, and animation options to add original quotes or messages to your images.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021: veredicto

Adobe updates Photoshop Elements every year to keep the app’s features fresh, and the company clearly delights in the capabilities that its Sensei smart features can accomplish to help amateur family photographers enhance their photos. The 2021 version of the app has a couple of standout features that may be worth the price of admission: Head Tilt and Move and Scale Object. Other additions like Quote Graphic and Moving Photos were less impressive.

Unless you can’t live without the new editions, users with newer versions will miss little by skipping this update. However, new buyers, or those with older versions (say, three years or more), would greatly benefit from Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021.
