Hideki Kamiya explained that they had high expectations in ScaleboundWell, it was an opportunity to work with Microsoft and Xbox. Also, the creative could make a high-quality game and stick a little more with photorealism.

As we all know, things did not go well at all, because the project was canceled when there were already many excited fans and Xbox One was going through a difficult time. Kamiya explained that they had to overcome very big obstacles during development, as their goal was to improve in various aspects.

“I thought it was also a necessary mission for PlatinumGames to improve our graphics capabilities and get to the next step in creating modern games (…) We were working in an environment that we weren’t used to. We were developing in the Unreal engine, we also lacked the necessary knowledge to create a game based on online functions ”, commented the creative in a video on the YouTube channel Cutscenes (via VGC).

On the other hand, Kamiya accepted that PlatinumGames did not have the necessary experience at the time, which led to the cancellation of the project. The creative apologized again to Microsoft and all the players who were waiting Scalebound.

“I am sorry for the players who were looking forward to it and also sorry for Microsoft, who had placed their trust in us as a business partner. I want to apologize as a creator and as a member of PlatinumGames, ”added the developer.
