Online electronics retailer LambdaTek has listed the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. If the price is right, it may not be as affordable as many hope.
Adding more volume to the recent flood of Samsung Galaxy S21 FE leaks, an online electronics store has prematurely listed the upcoming ‘Fan Edition’ phone along with its pricing details for the UK and other markets in Europe. Just a few days ago, the entire product brochure for Samsung’s upcoming offering appeared online, revealing almost everything about its key design and specs.
Starting with aesthetics, it looks almost identical to the standard Galaxy S21, save for the solid color profile on the rear panel rather than the two-tone finish on its more expensive flagship sibling. The screen is flat, and there’s a hole-lined hole in the center to house the selfie camera, a design Samsung has been marketing as the Infinity-O display. Unfortunately, Samsung has reportedly rejected the microSD card slot from its next budget flagship, but wireless charging support is part of the package.
LambdaTek, which serves customers in markets like France, the UK, and Germany among others, has prematurely listed the Galaxy S21 FE ahead of its rumored January launch. The model number (SM-G990) mentioned in EU and UK Listings matches the numbers seen on the supporting documents in the official Samsung Support Database. However, the price is not good news. For the EU market, the high-end model is priced at around € 940 after tax, which translates to around $ 1,065 based on current conversion rates. For the basic setup, customers will have to shell out around € 880, which is roughly equivalent to $ 1,000. For those who live in the UK, LambdaTek has priced the Galaxy S21 FE versions at £ 737.86 (about $ 990) and £ 790.20 (about $ 1,070) respectively. The prices in the online storefront have changed slightly since the ads were first detected by MySmartPrice.
A fan edition that may not win many fans
For the sake of comparison, the Galaxy S20 FE hit shelves last year priced at $ 699. The Galaxy S21 FE should compete with others like the iPhone 13 and Google Pixel 6, but if the retail listings are accurate, The chances of emerging as a value proposition for buyers are slim for the next Samsung phone. However, currency conversions don’t always show an accurate picture and the final price could be lower if Samsung is serious about selling the device. As for the guts of the phone, it will reportedly be offered in two variants depending on the chip that powers it: Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or the in-house Exynos 2100.
It is also understood that the Galaxy S21 FE will arrive with a 6.4-inch OLED screen with Full-HD + resolution (1080 x 2340 pixels) that is updated to 120Hz. The imaging hardware reportedly includes a 64-megapixel main camera, assisted by a wide-angle and depth sensor. Selfie and video calling tasks will be handled by a 32-megapixel snapper. A 4,500 mAh capacity battery keeps everything going, but the leaks over fast-charging power have been a bit of a conflict. Buyers will be able to choose between black, cream, lavender and white Samsung Colors of the Galaxy S21 FE.
