Dragon Ball FighterZ: The best DLC characters

While every character in the game is a viable option, some are simply better than others, so let’s take a look.

Dragon Ball FighterZ has been around for some time, so it has built up a pretty healthy list of fighters to choose from, thanks to periodically released DLC fighters that add to the expanding selection.

DLC packs have added a ton of characters throughout the Dragon Ball franchise that you can play as, and while every character in the game is a viable option, some are simply better than others, so let’s take a look. Here are the best DLC characters in FighterZ, from all corners of the Dragon Ball universe.

Updated November 10, 2021 by Jerrad Wyche: Dragon Ball FighterZ was recently added to Xbox Game Pass, and its addition to the popular gaming subscription service has introduced millions of new players to the successful and well-received Dragon Ball licensed fighting game. In September 2021, the game reached its fourth anniversary and thanks to both the quality of the game and the popularity of the Dragon Ball franchise, it managed to remain as relevant as ever.

Broly

Broly stands out as a zoner thanks to his excellent grip and ability to use his ki blast, which many consider the best projectile in the game. His overwhelming power allows him to put great pressure on opponents, and getting close is an ideal strategy considering his only clear weakness is his speed.

If you can use your confusions correctly and avoid getting punished by braggarts, you can turn average players into difficult outs simply because of how strong you are overall.

7
Vegito (SSGSS)

One of the best DLC fighters available since launch is Vegito, the Potara fusion of Goku and Vegeta, in his Super Saiyan Blue form. You will likely find Vegito near the top of any “best characters” list for FighterZ because of how good his character is.

He’s a fairly straightforward character to play, so he’s easy to use if you’re a beginner. It has a meter that builds up quickly and a grip that can trip people up, but it also has some easily exploitable weaknesses as a trade-off.

6
Gogeta (SSGSS)

It’s Gogeta, do we need to say more? Aside from the joy of seeing Vegeta blush during the fusion dance, Gogeta is an immensely fun character to play, as well as being one of the most recent additions to the roster. Also, like Vegito, Gogeta comes in his Super Saiyan Blue form.

Gogeta is a very fast character, the opposite of Cooler as mentioned above, and his combo potential is through the roof. It also has great confusions to throw opponents off balance and has five separate super moves. What more could you want?

5
Saw

You may not have expected it, but Videl is without a doubt one of the best characters in the entire game. It may not cause the most damage, but it makes up for it with what it can do.

He is a great character for confusion and has a good attendance. Plus, its counter is unique and its sliding drops are incredibly strong, allowing you to maintain pressure. Unless you weaken, you can expect it to be at the top of these types of lists for a while.

4
Vegeta

Not only is Basic Vegeta a fan favorite due to the anime and years of accumulated nostalgia, but he is also one of the best fighters in the entirety of Dragon Ball FighterZ. It might seem strange that the basic form of one of the most popular characters in the franchise is DLC, but fighting games are rare in that regard.

Base Vegeta’s abilities are pretty solid, and because he’s pretty approachable, whether you’re a veteran or a newcomer, you’ll still be able to experience firsthand what a great character he is in the game.

3
Bardock

For a long time, Bardock would easily have been at the top of this “best of” list, but he’s recently been dethroned (we’ll get to that character in a bit). Even so, Bardock is still not only one of the best DLC characters, but one of the strongest characters in the entire game.

Bardock is easy to use, making it a great choice for beginners, and its move set is pretty simple. Along with the fact that his damage is through the roof, his normals are incredible to the point of breaking, and he gains meters quickly, Bardock is a character that should be on everyone’s list.

2
Gogeta (SS4)

Gogeta in his Super Saiyan 4 form is as dangerous as his appearance suggests. His skills are above average across the board and as a career fighter, he excels in short and medium range fights.

His super moves can also change the entire dynamics of a fight, so he shouldn’t reach Level Seven if you’re fighting him and have any hope of making it to the top. That trigger level allows him to use 100x Big Bang Kamehameha, which is an instant death move.

1
Goku (GT)

Finally, the best DLC character in FighterZ is the Dragon Ball GT version of Goku. Many players were annoyed that another version of Goku was released as DLC, but this Goku really feels completely different from the rest, and it’s a blast to play.

It is absurd what a good character he is. First of all, he’s the smallest character in the game, which means he’s also the hardest to get. Next, he has the highest damage of any character in the game, the best assists and wobbles, and he has the longest blockchain. Until he’s flustered, Goku (GT) will comfortably rest at the top of this list.
