Call of Duty: Vanguard puts players once again in World War II, one of the most important war conflicts in history and in which multiple nations of the world were involved. Of course, throughout the different scenarios of the game it is possible to see elements referring to the cultures and religions of many countries. However, the Muslim community lashed out at Activision for the “insensitive” presence of one of its sacred texts.

Specifically, during the Der Anfang campaign in Zombies mode, it was possible to observe that some pages of the Koran, the holy book of Islam, were scattered on the dirty floor. The pages were in the game in such a way that players could step on them while walking and, more outrageous still, shoot them.

As the portal explains IGNPutting a copy of the Quran on the ground is considered disrespectful. Dozens of Muslim players expressed their disgust on social media and even planned a boycott of the game. Likewise, some developers also lashed out at environmental artists who put the pages within the title in the first place.

Activision Acknowledges Error And Removes Quran Pages From CoD: Vanguard

Once the controversy woke up in social networks, the Arab Twitter account of Call of Duty issued a statement where he apologized to the community for the offensive material that was present in the war shooter and assured that it has already been eliminated.

Call of Duty it is made for everyone. There was content insensitive to the Muslim community that was mistakenly included last week and has since been removed from the game. It should never have appeared as it did in the game. We deeply apologize. We are taking immediate internal measures to address the situation to prevent this type of event in the future, ”says the Activision statement.

Although a sector of the community was happy with the prompt response of the company, there were those who affirmed that this message should also be present on all Call of Duty social networks. This with the purpose of not limiting the apology to the Arab account and making it more widely circulated in the media.

But tell us, what do you think of this situation? Let us read you in the comments.
