Call of Duty: Vanguard is the UK’s top-selling new physical game over the past week, what displaces FIFA 22 to the second position. Both series are typically among the best sellers of each fall and are expected to remain on the charts for months. Regarding the distribution by platforms, 41% belong to PS5, 29% to PS4, 19% to Xbox One and 11% to Xbox Series X | S.
The usual trend in these cases continues: as happened with FIFA, Call of Duty has dropped 23% compared to last year. Does that mean that popularity is declining? No, it only reflects that the market has adopted digital distribution – which in most cases exceeds physical sales – and therefore that these sales lists are no longer a reflection of reality. For instance, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fell 64% in physical sales compared to Modern Warfare, but digital sales grew 39%, so no conclusions can be drawn from Vanguard at this time.
The week has also seen several novelties in the last few days. Fortnite Minty Legends Pack comes in at number 9 -33% on Nintendo Switch, 24% on PS4, 24% on Xbox and 19% on PS5-, Just Dance 2022 comes in at number 11 -88% on Nintendo Switch- and Fast & Furious: Spy Racers – Rise of Shifter closes the list of the 40 best-selling games.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy down to sixth place and Mario Party Superstars remains in the third. Riders Republic down to No. 16. Otherwise, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons sales increase, and new PlayStation 5 stock drives sales of several console games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales O Immortals: Fenyx Rising, which has had some packs in stores.
