MCU latest addition Will Poulter talks about his upcoming role as Marvel’s Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
After her casting announcement was made last month, Maze runner and Black mirror: Bandersnatch Star Will Poulter opened up about his new role as Adam Warlock in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
After being delayed due to Disney’s decision to fire and then rehire James Gunn as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, production on the film will begin soon. Weather Vol. 3 will conclude the story arcs of fan favorites like Star-Lord and Gamora, the movie will fulfill Vol. 2The post-credits promise to introduce Adam Warlock to the MCU.
Talking about his new Hulu series Dopesick With Variety, Poulter also referred to being the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Poulter would also share his experience of working on a smaller series as Dopesick to now transition to a Marvel blockbuster ready to go Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, adding that the drastic change is very exciting. “I’m not really allowed to talk on paper,” said Poulter. Just since it’s Marvel, I swear to keep it a secret. But [I’m] very, very grateful to be talking about something like Dopesick on the one hand and talking about something, or not talking about something, like Guardians in the other one. But very, very grateful to be doing both.
Poulter went on to say that he feels, “very honored to have been welcomed into the Marvel family. Everyone I’ve interacted with there is great and you know, [I’m] very excited to be part of a franchise like Guardians, which I consider to be one of the most creative and unique «. While Poulter carefully avoided any details regarding his character and plot details for the next comic entry, Adam Warlock will surely play a prominent role in phase 4. Adam Warlock, originally intended to play a larger role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, was briefly introduced in a post-credits scene in which Ayesha reveals the perfect sovereign creation to help destroy the Guardians. Fans then began to speculate who would play the exciting addition in Vol. 3 before director James Gunn finally took to social media to share the exciting news.
Warlock first appeared in 1967. Fantastic four Nos. 66 and 67, where his story (originally known as “He”) centered on the evil scientists of Earth called The Enclave who tried to develop an army of perfect and invincible humans. While it was still being formed, Warlock realized that its creators intended to use their newly formed army to conquer the entire world. Warlock would evolve into this antihero, the kind of complex and conflictual character for whom Poulter seems perfect (if his filmography is any indication). Fans can also witness Poulter flexing his acting skills in award-winning films like The Returnt, Detroit, and A24 Midsummer.
Gunn’s set will also feature returning characters such as Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, Pom Klementieff. as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha and Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri. Chris Hemsworth’s appearance as Thor in Vol. 3 remains a mystery, as the actor has expressed interest in joining the film, so fans will just have to wait and see what happens in Thor: love and thunder.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 currently has a release date of May 5, 2023.
