Out of Stock Switch N64 Controllers Won’t Restock Until 2022

Nintendo’s N64 Switch controller is out of stock. That’s right, what everyone said was the worst controller ever sold out again after initially selling out shortly after the arrival of the N64 Switch Online expansion. Meanwhile, the The Genesis Switch controller is still available, although we do not know for how long.

The objectively worse controller not only outsold the Genesis gamepad, it will also remain out of stock until next year. A message in the Nintendo website writes: “More drivers will be available in 2022.” No further details were provided.

If I had to guess, I’d say it has something to do with the current global chip shortage, which has caused stock shortages of just about everything. Nintendo made 6 million fewer Switches this year because it simply couldn’t find the semiconductors needed to build the 30 million they had planned, and similar supply problems have led to the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S fly off the shelves faster than Sony. or Microsoft can produce them.

But hey, the Genesis controller is still available, and that’s a controller that won’t tear your palm apart.

Regardless, you may not want to participate with Nintendo Switch Online emulated games. Gamers report a wide range of issues with Nintendo emulation, from sound lags to completely obtuse control layouts. A recent analysis found that Nintendo’s emulation software is simply worse on the Switch than its old hardware, leading to some cases of games playing better on the original N64 than on a new console more than two decades later.

Needless to say, fans weren’t exactly happy, and now even fans who could deal with lag as long as they had an N64 controller for Christmas will also be unhappy.
